Port Blair, June 02: Bringing an end to the long struggle of Ex-ATI workers for their due of wages/ compensation, the A & N Administration on 01.06.2017 distributed cheques to the EX- ATI workers in a simple function held at RAUC hall, Bambooflat.
The Member of Parliament Shri Bishnu Pada Ray was the Chief Guest on the occasion. He thanked the Lt. Governor and the Administration for their support throughout the process.
Shri Vishal Jolly, President BJP remembered the struggle of the workers and gave credit to the unity of the workers for the favourable action. During the occasion Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad South Andaman Shri Jaydeep Kumar Dey, Shri Sundram, Zilla Parishad Member, Bambooflat, Pradhan Shri Someshwar Rao, Bambooflat-I, Shri Hussainar Pradhan Bambooflat_ II, Shri J Hemant Rao Pradhan Shorepoint & Shri Madhusudan Pradhan Hopetown as well as the other PRIs were also present.
Shri Udit Prakash Rai, Dy. Commissioner(SA) briefed the gathering about the wages/compensation being given to the workers calculated at 12% interest for the balance 121/2 years which has increase the due wages to 3 to 4 times.
He also appreciated the untiring efforts of Ms.Mitali Goel, Collector Land Acquisition/ SDM, Shri Sunil Kumar, Tehsildar Ferrargunj, Shri Madhusudan Baidya, Labour Commissioner Shri Rishi Lal, Assistant Labour Commissioner and the revenue staff of the District Administration who has made this possible.
All in all out of 819 workers, cheques were issued for 491 workers as per list provided by the Labour Department and so far 370 cheques were released. DC(SA) also requested the remaining workers to apply with all requisite documents so that due wages/compensation can be disbursed at the earliest.
