Port Blair, June 18: Naval Ship Repair Yard, Port Blair conducted seasonal NSRY family event ‘Monsoon Run for Fun’ on 16 Jun 12. Officers, men and defence civilians as well as their families, including children and aged parents actively participated in the event. The Yard premises came to life early in the morning at 0530 hrs with assembly of all participants for the event. The run was flagged off by Commodore R Sreenivas, Commodore Superintendent, Naval Ship Repair Yard.
Activities like ‘Run for Fun’ are conducted often by NSRY (PB) as a measure to promote health awareness among the personnel and also to foster espirit- de- corps among various sections of the Yard. It is also an opportunity for the families of Yard personnel to meet and get to know each other. The event involved run for a distance of 7.5 Kms, tree plantation, prize distribution and community breakfast. The participants were from different age groups starting for 09 years to 60 years and there were prizes for all age groups.
Naval Ship Repair Yard (PB), the largest industrial establishment of Andaman & Nicobar Command is well known in the Islands for thoughtful Human Resource Development (HRD) measures. The Yard is also the holder of the Chief of the Naval Staff trophy for Best HRD practices among minor industrial establishments of the Navy.
