Mayabunder, Apr 24: ln order to enhance the capacity towards Disaster Preparedness among the community and stakeholders of Middle Andaman, a Mock Exercise has been planned to be conducted on 25/04/2017 at Mayabunder on Earthquake and Tsunami. A Table Top-cum-Co-ordination conference has been conducted on 24.04.2017 at 10.30 am at Conference Hall of Zilla Parishad, Lucknow involving all line departments, stakeholders, Panchayati Raj lnstitutions and Community by the Directorate of Disaster Management in coordination with District Administration, North & Middle Andaman.
The Assistant Commissioner, Middle Andaman, Dr. Monica Priyadarshini, lAS has given the briefing about the proposed Mock Exercise, standard operating procedure of District Administration and urged all the participants to give full cooperation for the success of Mock Exercise of Earthquike and Tsunami so that people could be more aware towards any disasters. The Standard Operating Procedures of various departments i.e. Police, Fire, Health, Transport, Forest, AH & vs, APWD, civil supply, Electricity, Education, Gram panchayat Mayabunder, Pokadera and Rampur, were also discussed.
Finally the scenarios for the proposed mock exercise on Earthquake and Tsunami has been finalized which will be conducted on 25.04.20L7 at 10.00 am at Mayabunder and all schools of Mayabunder educational zone and response of each line department/stakeholders, PRls and community will be tested.
Mr. Govind Ram, Director, Disaster Management who is also on a visit to North & Middle Andaman addressed the gathering and stressed for more cooperation which will be required from the community or Panchayati Raj institutions as a first responder to any crisis/disaster.
