Port Blair, Apr 17: Together with the rest of the country, the A&N Fire Service is observing Fire Service Week from 14th April to 20th April, 2017 to enhance general public awareness about the necessity of minimizing losses due to fire. The theme for this year is “FIREMAN YOUR PARTNER FOR SAVING LIFE AND PROPERTY”.
In order to spread community outreach, a number of programmes like fleet march of fire vehicles in the city, Lecture & Demonstration in Govt. buildings, Schools, Public places were organized. As an initiative step towards educating the children on fire prevention, a painting competition between children of various schools was organized at Fire Service (HQs) on 15/04/2017. Shri. B. Saigal, Dy. Superintendent of Police (Fire Service), A&N Islands who inaugurated the painting competition appreciated the children for participating in the competition eagerly. Altogether, 34 children from 05 Schools were participated in the said competition.
