Port Blair, Apr 13: The Direct Bank Transfer (DBT) to Coast Guard Personnel was inaugurated by IG Kuldip Singh Sheoran, PTM,TM, Commander Coast Guard A&N Region in the Office of the Joint Controller of Defence Accounts, JCDA(ANC), Buniyadabad, Port Blair. The JCDA (ANC) is the nodal agency for payment, accounting and audit functions for the Defence services including Coast Guard organization at portblair. There are around 1200 coast guard personnel for whom claim related payments are evaluated and passed by the JCDA office. Till now, the system of placing cash assignment to units were in place which requires drawal of cash by the units from SBI and the same used to be further paid to individuals as cash. Keeping in mind the GoI policy on digital payments and to promote cash less transactions, an initiative was conceived by the Joint Controller of Defence Accounts in consultation with Coast Guard Regional Headquarters.
The same was started as trial run from 03rd April 2017. On receiving user feedback certain modifications were carried out and the requisition form simplified. After inaugurating DBT services IG Kuldip Singh Sheoran, PTM,TM has congratulated the gathering and stated that such initiatives are in line with our objective of Prime Minister of India to promote cash less transactions. He also stated that such schemes will result in user satisfaction and also will result in quicker delivery of services. Shri. Padam Lal Negi, IDAS, Controller of Defence Accounts (IDS&SFC) New Delhi has also spoke on the occasion and said that this kind of initiative certainly will ease the system and help to monitor. Shri.R.Arulanandan, IDAS, Joint Controller of Defence Accounts explained the entire process through powerpoint presentation to the august gathering. The programme was attended by Shri Dilip kumar, IDAS, The Financial Advisor to Andaman Nicobar Command, DIG Yashwant kumar Singh and senior officials of both organisation.
