Port Blair, Apr 04: The Sailors Union of India has demanded settlement of long pending demands raised by the SUI.
In a letter addressed to the Director, Directorate of Shipping Services on Monday, the sailors union has demanded for alternative action on failure of settlement of pending demands like Roster Crews should sign off within 07 days on completion of article, Contract Crew should sign off within 07 days on completion of article, implementation of leave period of Roster Crew after completing article as per existing agreement in all sectors, Duties of DUH and cook of fore shore sector should be in systematic manner like other sectors, implementation of six month article for contract crew, engagement of local crews in one of the three vessels of administration manned by SCI assured by the Lt. Governor.
Further the union also added that if the demands are not fulfilled within 15 days of notice, the union will conduct a Rally seeking justice from the Lt. Governor of the islands.
