Port Blair, April 04: The act of revenue department to remove newly raised railing of a private land
situated at Brookshad/Brichgunj area of Port Blair have been criticized by residents of the area.
According to details due to some technical error, nearly 10 years back the then Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samity had laid a black top road through the land of the land owner, Ram Bishal, allegedly without taking any permission.
According to the land residents of the area, although a road was laid in that area but as per documents the road does not exists in government record.
Not only that, the road is in such a bad shape that it doesn’t exists physically in many stretches.
Today when the owner of the land tried to put railing around his own land the revenue officials reportedly came and removed the railing.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, the owner of the land Mr Ram Bishal said that he is having all the records, map as well as occupancy rights, “if the administration don’t want me to take the possession of my own land than the administration may allot me a land somewhere else, I am ready to surrender the land,” Mr Ram Bishal said.
Most surprisingly the Tehsilder Office of Port Blair had carried out the demarcation of the land and identified the physical land but today the railing of the land was removed even without any notice.
Further talking to Andaman Sheekha, the councillor of the area Mrs Vaishali Rani Dayal said that just because of the land in between the road that belongs to Ram Bishal can affect 128 families to reach their houses. “There is no doubt that the aforesaid land belongs to Mr Ram Bishal but this is a great problem as the land is in between the road, the administration must allot Ram Bishal a different land.
When contacted the Tehsildar, Port Blair told Andaman Sheekha that the black top road was constructed twice by Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samity many years back but the owner of the land didn’t claimed his land during at that time, for reasons unknown.
“Now when the government has invested money on his land then this is not the way of taking the possession. He must come through a proper channel,” Tehsildar, Port Blair said.
