Port Blair, Mar 22: Settlement of Nayadera, Krishnapuri, Nabagram, & Paschim Sagar were persisting their demand since their settlement to improve the connectivity for their betterment. Due to paucity of fund & for one and other reason, the works were not taken up by APWD.
However, in the large public interest, Shri Bihnu Pada Ray, Member of Parliament has taken up the matter seriously with the Ministry of RT&H for obtaining Central Road Fund. Consequent upon the efforts of Shri Ray, M.P., the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, New Delhi has accorded sanction of Rs: 43.00 crores under Central Road Fund for giving connectivity to villages in various parts of A & N Islands.
The APWD immediately on receipt of fund has taken the initiative and invited quotations through the E. Tendering process, which is transparent & corruption free process. The tenders for three major works have been opened on 10.03.2017. The work orders to lowest bidders are being issued shortly.
The works are Rural road including RCC Box type culvert & retaining wall- cum- drain for length of 04.03 Km from Krishnapuri School to Nayadera. Ministry sanctioned Rs: 10.71 crores. The rate quoted by Shri Uttam Kr.Saha for Rs: 7,96,98,989/- is lowest amongst others. Thus, saving of Rs; 02.74 crores.
RCC Bridge length of 24.00 mtrs length (04.00X06.00 mtrs. span) at ward No.4/7 at Nabagram. Ministry sanctioned Rs: 02.23 crores. The rate quoted by Shri Milan Roy for Rs: 1,64,36,650/- is lowest amongst others. Thus, saving of Rs: 58.63 lakhs.
RCC Bridge length of 18.00mtrs.(03.00 X06.00mtrs span)over the Nallah at road of Paschim Sagar. Ministry sanctioned Rs: 01.99 croes. The rate quoted by Shri Milan Roy for Rs:1,49,69,130/- is lowest amongst others. Thus saving of Rs: 49.30 lakhs.
