Port Blair, March 22: Non Political Organization, Island Protection Forum has demanded the Secretary, Veterinary Council of India to allot BVSc seat for Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
In a letter addressed to the Secretary, Veterinary Council of India Mr MT Mustafa, Non Political Organization, Island Protection Forum stated that since 1999 onwards no seats of BVSc is allotted to A & N Islands, hence no candidate is available in these islands to fill up the post locally following which the Andaman Nicobar Islands have to depend on mainland for appointment of Veterinary Doctors.
Mr MT Mustafa further added that the Andaman Nicobar Administration has taken up the matter with the Government of Puducherry for allotment of 05 seats in the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Veterinary College and society has agreed to increase number of seats to accommodate 05 candidates from Andaman Nicobar Administration but it is still pending.
Mr Mustafa finally requested the Secretary to look into the matter and issue necessary directions to restore/offer the aforesaid seats to the students of this islands from the academic year 2016-2017 onwards.
