I am happy to know that “World Consumer Rights Day” is being observed on 15th March 2017 in these Islands along-with the rest of the country. This year the theme adopted is “Consumer Rights in the digital age”.
The main objective of the World Consumer Rights Day is to create public awareness about consumer rights and to be informed about the quality, quantity, purity, standard and price of goods or services so as to protect the consumers against unfair trade practice.
I call upon the people of these Islands to work together to spread awareness about consumer rights and exercise their rights in this digital age through the available redressal mechanism.
I am sure the celebration of the World Consumer Rights Day will help raise the awareness about the rights and the remedies available to consumers.
I wish the celebration all success.
