Port Blair, Mar 14: The Tylerabad Police Unit has arrested the Panchayat Member of Ward Number 4 Bimblitan of Gram Panchayat Sippighat for intentionally insulting a man with intent to provoke his breach of the peace.
As per sources, yesterday while playing Holi he was under heavy influence of Liquor and he had used vulgar words against a Pharmacy Owner of Tylerabad namely Mr Rao following which Mr Rao registered a complaint in the Tylerabad Police Unit.
Sources said that after using vulgar words against the Pharmacy Owner he went absconding. However, Tylerabad Police Unit has arrested the Panchayat Member today and will produce him in the court tomorrow, it is learnt.
The Tylerabad Police Unit has registered a case of IPC section 504 and 506 in this regard. Further details are awaited.
