Port Blair, Mar 10: The final year students of B.Sc, Homescience, JNRM under the leadership of Professor Shri K.Venkatesan, HOD, Homescience today visited the Tushnabad Grampanchayat.
Miss. Mary Jasinta Tirkey, Pradhan welcomed the team and appreciated the Department of Homescience for making such field visit constantly to acquire the knowledge on ground realities.
Shri.Anand Amrit Raj Ex-Up Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman briefed the various development activities are being carried out in the panchayat. Miss. Mary Jasinta Tirkey, Pradhan and Shri Anand Amrit Raj, Ex Up Adhyaksh have explained the schemes of panchayat at present, issues pertaining to the infrastructure, health, unemployment issues, health and sanitation, agriculture etc., Shri.K.Venkatesan, HOD, Homescience apprised the Pradhan and PRI members about the convergence mode of various rural development and panchcyat related programmes.
The Pradhan requested the team of Homescience, JNRM to visit again and help the rural women for their livelihood. The students have also interacted with the rural women and PRI members of Tushnabad.
Further the students team have visited the field where MGNREGA work is going on. The entire team, PRI members thanked Dr N Francis Xavier, Principal, JNRM for permitting and supporting the activities. Smt.Geetanjali, Up Sarpanch, Smt.M.Saida, Up Pradhan and Smt.Rajkumar, Standing Committee member were also present during the visit.
