Port Blair, March 10: Non Political Organisation ‘Island Protection Forum’ has demanded the Chief Secretary Andaman Nicobar Administration to set up a center in every tehsil for AADHAR Card enrolment.
In a letter addressed to the CS, President, Island Protection Forum, Mr MT Mustafa stated that recently the Health Department had issued a press note that the patient should submit their AADHAR card during their visit to the Hospital for registration at OPD Counter.
He said that the scheme is appreciable, but in practical many islanders don’t have AADHAR card. He said that in this situation they should not be refused for registration until and unless completion of AADHAR enrolment is achieved 100%.
Mr MT Mustafa further stated that at present there is only 01 AADHAR enrolment center at Directorate of Civil Supplies, Port Blair, which is not sufficient for entire Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Most of the population is residing at North & Middle Andaman as well as in Southern Group of Islands.
Mr Mustafa stated that for AADHAR card the resident of these areas have to approach at Port Blair spending huge amount of money.
He requested the CS to issue necessary directions to open AADHAR enrolment centers at each Tehsil as the same is a continuous process like Election Identity Card, Islander Card etc, so that the public may avail the benefit without any extra burden.
