Port Blair, Mar 06: Surg Vice Adm Bipin Puri, VSM, PHS, Director General of Medical Services (Navy) had visited the Andaman & Nicobar Islands from 27 Feb to 01 Mar 17.
The Flag Officer is a Paediatric Surgeon who is a recipient of prestigious “Ethicon Travelling Fellowship award in Paediatric Surgery for the year 2005 by the Indian Association of Paediatric Surgeons” has visited various medical establishments in Port Blair, Car Nicobar and Kamorta.
During his visit Admiral has inaugurated Fleet Medical Store Depot (FMSD) at Haddo and a new OPD block at INHS Dhanvantari. The Flag Officer appreciated the efforts and initiatives taken by HQ ANC in conducting various multi speciality medical camps at far flung islands. He assured all necessary assistance from the office of DGMS (Navy) in upgrading the existing medical facilities including at the remotely located units of ANC in the Islands.
