
Port Blair, Mar 06: The Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association, Andaman and Nicobar Islands observed Black Day today all over the Islands in protest of the indifferent attitude of Central Government on 21-Point Charter of Demands of Central government employees.
The call for Black Day observation was given by the Confederation of Central Govt. Employees & Workers, New Delhi demanding Honour of the Commitment made by the Group of Ministers on 30th June & 6th July, 2016 on 7th CPC issues like Revision of Minimum Wage, Multiplication Factor and Allowances. The demands also include settlement of various issues related to National Pension System (NPS).
As part of the programme, the Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association, Andaman and Nicobar Islands organized Mass Demonstration in front of the Secretariat Gate at Port Blair where hundreds of government employees from Port Blair and other parts of South Andaman participated wearing Black Badges. Inaugrating the demonstration, Shri S.P. Kalai Rajan, Circle Secretary, BSNL Employees Union addressed the gathering and critisised the anti-employees attitude of the Central Government towards the genuine demands of employees & workers. Shri T.S. Sreekumar, General Secretary of the Association elaborated the demands and pointed out the delaying tactics adopted by the Central Government in implementing the Allowances at enhanced rate.
Shri S.L. Vinjit, Secretary, South Andaman Teachers Branch and Shri Anand Raj, Secretary, Secretariat Sub-Committee of the Association also addressed the gathering. A large number of women employees participated in the Mass Demonstration. Similar programmes were organized at other parts of the islands also.
