Diglipur, Feb 24: First season of the Shibpur Cricket tournament got underway at the Vivekananda stadium Diglipur today.
Chief guest Asst Commissioner Diglipur Shri Awanish Kumar IAS inaugurated this tournament in the presence of Pramukh Diglipur, Shri Shyamal Mondak, BDO Diglipur Smti Lalita Tigga, Pradhan Shibpur Gautam Biswas. After declaring open this tournament he said that the enthusiasm of the youths for the sports which was seen here in these Islands were never seen anywhere and asked the participating teams to maintain the Harmony & brotherhood during the tournament.
Altogether 13 teams will play 22 matches in 17 days. Final match will be played on 12th march.The winner will get Rs.30,000/- with trophy and runner-up will get Rs. 20,000/- with trophy.
Earlier Pradhan Shibpur welcomed all the guests in this occasion. Once the Games were declared open, the flag were also hoisted at stadium by the Asst. Commissioner.
