Great Nicobar, Feb 26: The Andaman and Nicobar Islands Integrated Development Corporation Limited (ANIIDCO) has now started rationing of Diesel in the Southern most Islands of A & N Chain, Great Nicobar, due to fuel shortage, troubling the resident to a greater extent.
As per reports, few days ago the ANIIDCO supplied around 12000 liters Diesel to Great Nicobar Islands following which the ANIIDCO unit of Campbell Bay distributed 3000 liters of Diesel to Transport Department and 3000 liters of Diesel to Andaman Public Works Department.
Andaman Sheekha has learnt that as per the instructions from the ANIIDCO head office Port Blair, the ANIIDCO in-charge of Campbell Bay has been asked to anyhow maintain the stock of Diesel in the Great Nicobar Islands till March 10th and thus the In-charge ANIIDCO of Campbell Bay has started rationing of Diesel to the residents of the island.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, the Vice President, Bhartiya Janta Party, Mr Sanjay Singh also a resident of Great Nicobar said that Development Works in the Island has suffered a serious hit because of shortage of Fuel.
The ANIIDCO is rationing the Diesel just to show the administration that there is no problem in the supply of Diesel at Great Nicobar islands and that they have maintained a good stock here.
“How come a businessmen operate his trucks and other commercial vehicles after receiving only 5-10 liters of Diesel, it seems that the administration is least bothered to solve the basic issues of the residents of Great Nicobar Islands,” Sanjay Singh said.
Mr Sanjay further said that if the administration does not take steps to solve the issues of the Great Nicobar residents sooner than the residents will be forced to organize a protest.
However, it is learnt that the office of the Assistant Commissioner, Great Nicobar as well as the ANIIDCO is putting all possible efforts to solve the issue soon.
