Port Blair, June 13: The Congress and BJP today demanded financial assistant for four people, who were crushed by an uprooted tree yesterday. The tree had fallen on their house and destroyed the house completely.
Meanwhile the BJP has also demanded the same. In a letter addressed to the Lt. Governor, Chief Secretary and DC, South Andaman, Mr. Mohan said that the party had demanded trimming of such dangerous trees long back, but the demand had fallen in deaf ears.
Mohan requested the LG, CS and DC to locate and trim all such old trees, which may kill people in future too.
“The branches of the trees which are touching the electrical lines need to be cut down and the electrical cables need to be checked and repaired periodically. The open drainage systems of the city and suburbs need to be covered,” Mr. Mohan said in his letter.
