Port Blair, Feb 20: The Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association, A & N Islands expresses gratitude towards the Govt. of India and the A & N Administration for clearing a long pending demand of the teachers working under the Education Department i.e., granting of ISDA to during summer vacation. As per the Office Memorandum of Ministry of Home Affairs dated 23rd November, 2016, the Department of Personnel & Training had clarified the matter and stated that summer vacation is deemed as duty under FR 82(b) as per the Govt. of India Decision No.3 below Rule 28 of CCS(Leave) Rules, 1972.
Thousands of teachers in the Education Department as well as other vacation staff working in Colleges and other institutions will be benefited from this order. It is pertinent to mention that since the denial of ISDA during summer vacation to teachers, this Association has been taking up the matter with the higher authorities in the Administration as well as Govt. of India for clarifying the matter at the earliest.
The then General Secretary Shri D.Ayyappan, and Shri T.S.Sreekumar, Asst. General Secretary were deputed on duty to pursue the matter with Govt. of India. The concerted effort of the Association has led towards the achievement of this long pending demand of the teachers.
