Port Blair, Jan 24: The 16th Netaji Subash Mela-cum-Exhibition was at its peak for opening for waiting people of different linguistics languages of Mayabunder and adjoining areas of North & Middle Andaman District. It was the first time when all the founder member’s of the mela were felicitated for the wonderful achievements and establishment of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose Birthday celebration in Mayabunder area long ago was taken up by them voluntary in the District Head Quarters of North & Middle Andaman District.
The much awaited Subash Mela-cum-Exhibition was set opened by Shri Udit Prakash Rai, IAS, Secretary, RD, PRIs & ULBs and Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman District in presence of Shri Arava Gopi Krishna, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, North & Middle Andaman District and other dignitaries on 23rd January, 2017 evening, on the occasion of Birth Anniversary of the great freedom fighter and Supreme Commander of Azad Hind Fouj, Netaji Subash Chandra Bose.
The Mela-cum-Exhibition was opened by traditionally lighting of oil lamp by the Chief Guest and other dignitaries and there after the inspection of the stalls was done in which various government departments of the District Administration had displayed the development activities being done in the North & Middle Andaman District, which was very much appreciated by the Chief Guest. The assemble people were much happy and welcomed the Chief Guest and other dignitaries by folding their hands.
The welcomed speech was delivered by the Assistant Commissioner (HQ), Shri. T.M. Meena, while addressing the people assembled at the Mela-cum-Exhibition, the Chief Guest Shri Udit Prakash Rai, IAS, Secretary, RD, PRIs, ULBs and Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman said that he was much impressed by the welcoming of people of Mayabunder and he saw unity in diversity and said that the tradition of people of different languages, Religion and places should set an example for our countrymen to preserve out valuable moral structure and further development in all spheres in the coming days ahead. He has recalled the celebration of mela during 2012 and the mela has taken a great shape during, 2017 which is unbelievable.
The different stalls put up by various departments of the District Administration was liked by the people especially the drifted wood museum and the mouthwatering eatables stalls, ice cream parlor etc. and the rubbished fun games throng with people of all walks especially the children were seen climbing and ascending the slopes of the fun game.
The Mela-cum-Exhibition which started on 23rd January, 2017 will last long for 7 days and conclude on 29th January, 2017. The vote of thanks was delivered by Shri Benadickt, Assistant Director (Admn.), Deputy Commissioner Office, North & Middle Andaman.
