Port Blair, Jan 09: The Directorate of Education arranged screening of the Hindi movie ‘Dangal’ for the students of Municipal area on Saturday. Around 100 meritorious students from 16 different Government schools of Port Blair got the opportunity to watch the film. The aim behind screening the movie for the students was to inculcate the values of Nationalism, passion to achieve the goal through sheer hard work and compassion and respect for the Girls. The movie effectively reflects the message of ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’, apart from motivating the youth to adopt sports as career. The Secretary Education, Tanvi Garg has appreciated the Directorate of Education for this initiative. In her message she hoped that the children would get motivated after watching the movie, specially the girls and would develop self confidence to move forward in their life with positive mind set. Further the secretary has directed the schools to obtain the experiences of the students of watching ‘Dangal’ in written format and the best entries will be rewarded.
The film is based on a real story, in which the life story of the legendary wrestler Mahaveer Singh Phogat and her wrestler daughters Gita and Babita was depicted. Expressing her views after watching the movie one student P. Durga Laxmi of class XI said that the Girls shouldn’t think themselves being inferior to boys. The film conveys the message to the conservative Society which thinks girls are burden for the family. Talent, hard work and determination never fails, rather they lead the path to glory, if one is sincere in his or her approach. Girls have stronger will power that’s what the story of Geeta and Babita’s tells.
Another girl Anisha said that we should face the challenges of life with confidence and never get disappointed on defeats. Over the past few years the Girls of the country have been doing great in the field of sports and bringing laurels to the country. She said that the mindset of the people is changing nowadays and girls are getting importance and respect in the family and society.
The Directorate made special arrangements, and two buses were deployed to take students from the different schools, and drop them back.
