Port Blair, Dec 18: The 53rd Annual General Body Meeting of Andaman & Nicobar State Cooperative Bank was held on 18.12.2016 at its Conference Hall. Shri. Bhagat Singh, Chairman, ANSCB chaired the meeting. The Programme was also attended by Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Vice Chairman, ANSCB, Board of Directors, Members of PACS (Primary Agriculture Credit Societies), various affiliated Societies and Bank officials.
At the outset, Smt. Jolly James, DGM (IT) welcomed the delegates wholeheartedly and expressed gratitude to the dignitaries present on the dais. She also expressed gratitude to the representatives of various cooperative societies for attending the meet.
Shri. Anjan Sengupta, Deputy General Manager (Bkg) on his key note addressed on Banking & other development, Social & Govt. Policies and schemes presented the current financial parameters of the bank with respect to its financial position as on 31.03.2016. He informed the General Body that the financial position of the Cooperative Bank is very good and there has been substantial rise in the Deposits mobilised by the bank and registered a growth of 13.21 % and deposit increased by Rs. 80.41 Crores, the total business grew by Rs 85.02 Crores.
The Bank registered a Net Profit of Rs. 5.11 Crores in 31.03.2016 as against Rs. 4.44 Crores in the year 31.03.2015, thereby registering a growth % of 15 %. He also highlighted the various performance parameters of the bank before the General Body. The Bank registered a CASA of 52.31 % and retained 6th position among 33 State Cooperative Banks throughout the country. The Capital Adequacy of the bank registered at 25.98 % and retained 4th position among 33 State Cooperative Banks. The Bank with 41 branches & 16 ATMs are presently functional and the bank has introduced RTGS / NEFT facility and presently issuing Rupay branded ATM cards which are accessable in ATMs of all banks. The bank is presently working on Rupay POS (Point of Sale), Rupay KCC and IMPS (Immediate Mobile Payment System), which shall be introduced shortly.
In his keynote address, Shri. Bhagat Singh, Chairman of the bank expressed his gratitude to all members of PACS, Board of Directors, Bank Staff and specially the public and Administration for their support and cooperation to Cooperative Bank. The Chairman further urged all the members present on the occasion to popularise the schemes of the bank and also the schemes rendered by Govt. of India. He stressed that the Bank has chalked out a programme for creating awareness on cashless transactions which has already commenced. He further informed all the PACS that the issues pertaining to land allotment to PACS is taken up with the A & N Administration. Shri. Ravinder Rao, Managing Director, ANSCB welcomed and thanked to the Chairman and BOD. He appreciated that the in the leadership of Shri. Bhagat Singh, Chairman we are forwarding ahead. The Bank is going to Introduced POS Machine and through online we can use our Debit Card also.
He further said that there has to be One Paid Secretary in One PACS. He also informed that the Cooperative Bank has entered into its Golden Jubilee year and to promote sports among the youths, the Bank has organized a “Cooperative Bank Golden Jubilee Knock out Football Tournament”. Further, the Managing Director took up the agenda wise points of the General Body Meeting wherein detailed discussions were held and the General Body approved and adopted the necessary resolutions.
The delegate from PACS and various other Cooperative societies including representatives of Tribal Cooperative Societies have suggested various measures for improvement like awareness programme for cashless transaction, opening of more Branches, ATMs, etc.
The meeting culminated with the vote of thanks proposed by Shri. K. Suresh, DGM (Audit).
