Port Blair, Dec 14: The Department of Environment and Forests, Andaman & Nicobar Islands on request by RGH, Indian Coast Guard, Port Blair conducted a snake handling training programme for the personals of Indian Coast Guard at INS Jarawa, Haddo. This training was imparted to enhance the functional capacity of Coast Guard Personnel while on duty in interior Coast to avoid potential danger and to be aware about their surroundings for their personnel safety. In this regard, a brief presentation on snake handling techniques was delivered by Dr. Sam Varghese, Sr. Veterinary Officer of Department followed by a demonstration on handling and rescuing snakes was done by Wildlife Rescue Team consisting of Shri. Manjeet singh Deputy Ranger, Shri Abdul Razak, Veterinary Compounder along with Shri Jay Kumar, Forest Guard. The personals were also given firsthand experience in handling the snake.
