Port Blair, Dec 12: Four cases were adjudicated on 12.12.2016 for violation of Section 26(2)(iv) of Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006 and punishable under Section 58 for storage and sale of prohibited tobacco products in North & Middle Andaman. A sum of Rs.80,000/- and Rs.60,000/- was imposed on two food business operators, one Mr. A.L.V.Bhaskaran, Prop.M/s Sivagami Store, Rangat and the other Mr. Ashok Kr.Das, Prop.Ratan Store, Kalighat, Diglipur respectively for possessing contra banned tobacco products. Further, two more food business operators namely Mr. C.M.Sekhar, Prop.M/s C.M.Sekhar Store, Restcamp, Mayabunder and Mr. Mariappan Pillai, Prop.Boominathan Store, Rangat were imposed Rs.30,000/- each.
Public are requested to give information regarding storage/sale of banned chewing tobacco to Food Safety Officer/Police/District Administration.
