Diglipur, Dec, 8: Diglipur Island today witnessed flooding due to heavy rain, since yesterday. According to reports four villages of Diglipur Island suffered the maximum burnt of flooding since early this morning, forcing hundreds of people to leave their house and take shelters at hilly places.
The Fire service personnel in assistance with Revenue and Police personnel rescued 10 people from Subhash gram area, 14 from V S Pally till 3pm in the evening. The rescue operation took more than 3 hours in which two Dingies were also utilized. Relief camps are set up in those villages and proper care is been taking careof.
“Four villages viz. Vidya Sagar Palli, R K Gram, Desh Bandhu Gram and Subahsh Gram were hit by heavy rainfall. The administration is on high alert and all HODs are monitoring the situation, Revenue department along with Tehsildar RIs Patwaris working round the clock. There is no major damage reported till now. Assistant Commissioner Shri. A K Trivedi informed that people were seen rescuing their cattle and livestock since morning. Also the Diglipur village is now cut off from keralapuram Hathilevel due to flood.
