Port Blair, Dec 06: On 28.11.2016, a workshop for the teachers of Primary, Middle, Secondary and Senior Secondary level schools of Mayabunder Zone including private schools was organized by the District Police N & M Andaman in the Conference Hall of Govt. Model Sr Sec. School, Mayabunder.
The purpose of the workshop was to create awareness among the teachers about the rights of the children and their role to prevent the incidences of child abuse in the schools. Shri Parvinder Singh, IPS, Superintendent of Police, North & Middle Andaman District, briefed the teachers in detail about the rights of the children, some myths about child sexual abuse, good touch and bad touch, the provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, various types of sexual assaults and its punishments with the help of Power Point Presentation.
The participating teachers also actively participated in the workshop and raised various questions to which the Superintendent of Police, N&M Andaman cleared their doubts and gave suitable answers. About 70 teachers participated in the workshop. Similar workshops are also proposed to be organized in other Zones of North & Middle Andaman District in the coming month.
