Port Blair, Dec 04: The India Reserve Battalion, Andaman & Nicobar Islands celebrated its 14th Raising Day at Parade Ground, Police Lines on December 03rd, 2016, in which senior officers and other Upper & Lower Subordinates of A&N Police participated. During the celebration, an impressive ceremonial parade which includes 5 platoons of marching contingents headed by Inspector G. Radhakrishnan (Parade Commander) of IRBn was held, in which Shri. N.S. Bundela, IPS, Inspector General of Police was the Chief Guest and took salute from the parade contingents.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest lauded the services of the Battalion personnel who are always keen to serve anywhere in the Island. The officer further added that, the IRBn was raised in the year 2002 to secure these islands from internal & external threats. Presently, the IRBn is being deployed at various important duties which includes security of Look Out Posts, Jarawa Protection Posts, Anti-Poaching Operations etc. The IRBn is also securing the vital installations of the Islands such as Raj Niwas, Marine Dockyard, Helipad and Open Distress Camp etc. Besides, the IRBn are being engaged for Law & Order duties to assist the local Police, which includes VVIP visits, Protest/demonstration and other important duties. Moreover, the IRBn is always on the first line of defence for performing the rescue / rehabilitation works during any natural calamities/ manmade disasters.
The chief guest while concluding his speech expressed that, now transforming India is moving towards the cashless society, accordingly, A&N Police is also gearing up for effective implementation of these aspects especially in the Police department.
