Port Blair, Nov 23: More than 70-100 members of Pradesh Congress Committee, Port Blair staged protest in the entire Port Blair city condemning the Central government for demonetising Rs. 500 and Rs. 1,000 currency notes.
Separate Groups of Congress functionaries staged protest at Bambooflat, Junglighat, Dairy Farm Fisheries Colony, Clock Tower Aberdeen Bazaar, Corbyn’s Cove, Macca Pahad etc areas.
All top leaders of the Pradesh Congress Committee like Shanta Laxman Singh, Ratna Kannan, Noor Islam, Mahendar Prasad were present at the protest.
The congress leaders during the protest accused Prime Minister Natrendra Modi for bringing a total chaotic situation in entire India, in which common man suffered maximum burnt.
Meanwhile situation is becoming chaotic in every bank and ATMs. The SBI has reported stopped giving Rs. 2000 notes to private banks and Rs. 500 notes haven’t reached Andaman yet. As Rs. 100 notes are stocked by people in every corner, there is a shortage of Rs. 100 notes also in Andaman.
Sources said that if this continues for some more weeks, some of the private banks will surely have to keep their shutters down.
