Port Blair, Nov 20: Police Station Aberdeen arrested four persons with over 1.435 Kg Ganja at South Point, Chandini Chowk and Mazar Pahar. Two cases have been registered at this PS under Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substances Act 1985.
After receiving credible information by SHO PS Aberdeen, that some persons possess huge quantity of illicit ganja at Mazar Pahar and South Point. On 14-11-2016 & 15-11-2016, a raiding team led by Inspr. Mahesh Yadav, SHO PS Aberdeen, SI P. Ram Raj, SI Gracefield, HC R. Radha Krishnan, HC Vijay Shanker, HC V. Hentho, PC’s M. Ashok Kumar, Abdul Rasheed, Biswaji Baroi, Nageshwar Rao, Gajendran, R. Nirmala, T. Nitya and Budhani Uraon and PC(D) Palani was formed under direct supervision of Ajay Rai, SDPO (SA). They were busted 02 NDPS racket and recovered 1.435 Kg of illicit ganja from the possession of 04 accused persons Sheik Murtaza @ Tutul, Sheik Shafiul, Yogesh Lall and Nityananda Halder @ Nitto. They were arrested on the spot under the sections of Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substances Act 1985. It is also informed that Sheikh Murtaza is a history sheeter.
South Andaman Police is keeping strict vigil over smuggling and proliferation of narcotics substance in these Islands.
