Port Blair, Nov 17: The Directorate of Disaster Management, A&N Administration conducted an awareness-cum-sensitization programme on Disaster Management & Preparedness of ANI for staff and officials of Raj Niwas in the Conference Hall of Raj Niwas on 16th November, 2016.
Shri T.K.S Ajayan, Assistant Director (Ops), DM briefed about the vulnerability profile of A&N Islands, various hazards, risks and the disaster preparedness towards any unforeseen crisis. He also added that, Andaman & Nicobar Islands are highly susceptible to disasters of varied intensities, though we cannot prevent these natural phenomenon (disasters) to happen but definitely with a holistic and a meticulous approach & plan we could greatly reduce the impact.
Shri Gyan Singh, Assistant Director (Log.) briefed about various concepts of Disaster Management and its implementation. He stressed the need of an affective Disaster Management Plan of each establishment, department, offices so that the impact of a disaster may be minimized.
