Port Blair, Nov 06: Chief Secretary Shri.Anindo Majumdar A & N Administration visited Neil Island on 05th to 06th November, 2016. On arrival Chief Secretary along with Deputy Commissioner, South Adnaman Shri.Udit Prakash Rai, Pradhan Shri.R.K.Biswas, Zilla Parishad Member Shri.Dasrath Verma and Panchayat Samiti Member Smti.Chameli Das made a visit to Senior Secondary School, Neil and interacted with the Principal and staffs. He directed the Principal to repair the old toilet block by APWD at the earliest.
He also directed the Junior Engineer, APWD to start the work of 06 classrooms and toilet block which has already been sanctioned. He also assured the school authorities, that he will look in to the demand of Maths teacher/Integrated Lab, Smart Class and a Multipurpose hall in the school.
He further visited the road from Neil Kendra to Sitapur beach and Bharatpur beach, both the roads were found in a very bad condition. Immediate widening and carpeting is needed of the road. Junior Engineer, APWD informed that the estimate has already been submitted to the circle office.
In this regard Chief Secretary directed the Junior Engineer to ensure that the work of the repair of the road should be started within a month. He also assured the PRIs that Ex-Engineer, CD-I, APWD would be visiting within a week to take the stock of the situation and submit action taken report.
Thereafter Chief Secretary visited PHC, Neil, wherein he was informed about the status and issues of the hospital by the PHC i/c Dr.Shinny Varghese. Chief Secretary affirmed the hospital authorities that the demand for one more additional doctor and one allopathic pharmacist shall be looked into. He further directed the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman to demarcate the land of hospital and the any encroachment in the hospital premises to be removed immediately.
Thereafter, the Chief Secretary conducted a meeting of PRIs in the IP&T Hawa Bill Guest Gouse. Pradhan, Neil Island put forth the demands of repairs of the roads, Augmentation of water sources in all the village of Neil, widening and extension of Neil Jetty, making Neil Island a alcoholic free, renovation of PHC building, shortage of staffs in the hospital, construction of petrol bunk by ANIIDCO, lighting and other amenities in the beaches of Neil and construction of a park in Neil Island. Pradhan NeiI Island also demanded that organic manure and fertilizers should be made available in time and proper quantity by Agriculture department.
Chief Secretary assured, Pradhan and PRIs that their genuine demands of road, jetty, petrol bunk will be taken up immediately by the concerned department. He further assured Secretary (Agriculture) and Director of Agriculture shall be visiting Neil Island to take stock of the status and availability of organic manure. He further directed Junior Engineer, APWD and Junior Engineer, Electricity to prepare the estimate for making lighting arrangements in all the beaches of Neil Island starting from Laxmanpur beach. Other PRIs also demanded for forest timber sale depot, Mortuary Van, additional ship services to Neil Island, de-salination plant and extension of Power House in Neil Island. Chief Secretary confirmed to the PRIs and the general public that he shall look into to all these issues and take action on all the genuine demands of the public.
Chief Secretary promised that roads, lighting of beaches and park in the Island would be accorded top most priority by the administration.
