Port Blair, Oct 26: In a communication sent to the Lt. Governor, A&N Islands on 26.10.2016, Shri B. Eswar Rao, Chairperson, Port Blair Municipal Council taken up the issue of construction of a Passenger Accommodation, Ticketing Counter and other requisite amenities at par with Kolkatta, Chennai and Delhi for the benefit of Vizag bound passengers and tourists at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
For this purpose, foundation stone was laid by the then Lt. Governor during February, 2013 and tenders were floated and contract was awarded to successful contractor two years back. But the work has not yet commenced. Now, it has been reliably known that necessary building plan for the above work has also been approved by the Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation, Andhra Pradesh.
Highlighting all the facts, Shri B.Eswar Rao, Chairperson, PBMC requested the Lt. Governor, A&N Islands to intervene into the matter for early commencement and completion of construction of Andaman Bhavan at Visakhapatnam for the benefit of Vizag bound passengers. This is one of the long pending issue of the Telugu Community of these Islands.
