Port Blair, Oct 14: The District Commissioner as well as a team of Doctors of GB Pant Hospital has reportedly assured the residents of Manarghat and family members of Late Kasim Ali, that in future on request of family members of any serious patient, the patient will be referred to mainland immediately.
Late Kasim Ali had died yesterday at GB Pant Hospital due to alleged delay in referring the patient to mainland.
As per the protestors who met the DC as well as a team of Doctors of GB Pant Hospital at DC office, this evening, they have agreed to refer serious patient immediately if family members desire so.
“They have assured us that during holidays and at night hours a ‘senior’ Doctor will also be deputed on duty at the Hospital,” protestors said.
As per reports, a mass protest was held by the residents of Manarghat and family members of Kasim Ali in front of the GB Pant Hospital yesterday, which ended late evening after intervention of Higher Authorities of Administration.
Sources said that the protestors had planned to continue the protest this morning at Bambooflat but before that the DC requested them to meet him at 03:00 pm today so that matter can be resolved peacefully.
