Port Blair, Oct 13: The Food Safety Officers of Directorate of Health Services conducted a raid in various parts of the City this evening and seized huge quantity of banned Tobacco products from various Pan Shops.
As per reports, the team raided two Pan Shops, situated close to Ananda Restaurant, opposite to CID office, the team then headed towards Swamy Pan Shop situated near Jama Masjid, Dignabad.
The team also conducted a raid at Raj Pan Shop, Junglighat, Opposite to ANIIDCO Wine Shop and then the team moved to School Line and raided at Alam Pan Shop.
As per sources, all together nearly 80 tin of Zarda of different varieties and 100 pouches of ‘Khaini’ (Processed Tobacco leafs) and other banned Tobacco Products has been seized from all the above mentioned Shops.
The raid was conducted by a team constituting of Mr. Tehseen Ali, Food Safety Officer, Mr R V Murgaraj, Food Safety Officer, Mr Ravi Kumar and Mr. Ram Kumar under the overall supervision of Mr. Mamman Abraham, Designated Officer, Food Safety.
