Port Blair, Oct 04: ‘Kala Kendra’ – A &N Islands Society for Promotion of Art & Culture under Department of Art & Culture is organizing a month long production oriented theatre workshop in collaboration with National School of Drama at Port Blair from 10 September 2016. This outreach programme deal with a whole range of subjects related to and with theatre. Subjects such as acting, movement, light, make-up, theatre history and literature among others, are being taught in this workshop. 20 artists of the islands are being trained at the workshop. NSD has deputed Prof. Ashok Sagar Bhagat, Shri Sandeep Bhatacharya, Shri Amit Banerjee, Shri Abhijit Lahiri, Shri K.R. Omkar and Shri Shiv Prasad Gond as experts and resource persons.
The valedictory function of the month long theatre workshop will be organized on 7th October 2016 at 6 pm at B.R. Ambedkar Auditorium, Port Blair. On this occasion a play “Lal Neel Raja Ka Desh” (an improvised play based on a short story) which is designed & directed by Shri Sandip Bhattacharya will be staged.
