Port Blair, Oct 04: As a part of observance of “International Day of Nonviolence”, a Cleanliness drive was organized inside the Prison and the Gandhi Jayanti was also celebrated. During the drive, “Pledge Taking Ceremony” was sworn to the participant inmates and Prison officials. On the occasion it has advice that culture of Nonviolence, tolerance among communities and safeguard fundamental rights, freedom, justice, equality and democracy as well as to cultivate among the individuals aptitude for mutuality and respect of diversity. Further it is requested to the prisoners and staff to keep their barracks, house and surrounding neat and clean.
An hour programme was organized under the overall supervision of Smt Geeta Rani Verma, Inspector General (Prisons) and in presence of Jailor and Deputy Jailor.
The programme concluded with vote of thanks by the Shri. Mohd. Hanif, Jailor.
