Port Blair, Sept 30: The Chairperson along with Deputy Commissioner (SA), Councillors and Officials of the Council in the morning of today i.e on 30/09/2016 inspected the Mohanpura area, near sluice gate at Marine. During the inspection it was noticed that due to the heavy down pour, drains of the area are overflowing and the drains are chocked with debris and garbage.
The Chairperson on the spot ordered the Sanitary Officer of the Council to clear the drains at the earliest. He further directed the Executive Engineer (E&M) to restart the functioning of the pump provided to drain out the water during flooding.
Thereafter the team visited Ward No-16 at Old Pahargaon area Telegu Basti where due to heavy rain the logged and entered in the nearby houses and the Chairperson directed the Sanitary officer to clear the blocked drains of the area at the earliest.
