Port Blair, Sept 29: A 12 year old girl namely Usha Rani, studying at VI standard of GSSS Bambooflat died today after being electrocuted inside her School Premises.
As per reports, it was a holiday for the students of class 1 to 8th because of exams but they were asked to come to school to have their mid day meals.
The girl reached the school and went to the play ground for playing and at around 09:00 am when she touched a hoarding placed inside the school campus, she suffered electrocution which resulted in her death.
It is learnt that it was total negligence of the Electricity Site Office of the area that a high tension wire was touching the hoarding, placed inside school premises and the matter went unnoticed.
Later the DC South Andaman and Superintendent Engineer of Electricity and other Senior Officials rushed to the spot.
In recent past one youth of Diglipur Islands had also died due to electrocution after touching the high tension wire of the Electricity Department at Diglipur, in that case too till now no action has been taken against responsible officers.
The family members of people, who are dying because of Electrocution are of course getting compensation from the Administration but that compensation amount or a job on DRM basis, can’t fulfill the loss the family members are suffering, due to the negligence of Electricity Department. Public requests the Lt. Governor to take some action against those, for whom innocent people are dying of electrocution.
