Port Blair, Sept 29: The Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, accompanied by the Secretary (Transport), A&N Administration and other officers had visited Bambooflat, Shore Point and Wimberlygunj on 21/09/2016 to discuss the Parking Area issue and developmental activities in the region with the PRI representatives on the spot. The team inspected the site proposed for Bus Terminus and Market Complex, Jetty area at Bambooflat, and also various sites at Wimberlgygunj. Suitable instructions were issued to the Transport authorities for preparation of requisite proposals as regards the Bus Terminus.
The Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman and the team also visited a private tenant’s plot near Bambooflat Jetty Market Area, which was affected by tsunami related submergence. On the request of the tenant, he directed the revenue-officials to carry-out necessary measurement of the area within a week so as to provide approach to the site.
The Revenue-field officials conducted the demarcation/field measurements on 28/09/2016 and resolved the issue by marking the inundated foot-path, as shown in the records. The Pradhan Gram Panchayat requested to give necessary clearance for taking up the foot-path work and the same is being attended to. The Revenue Department is trying to resolve the long-pending land disputes/issues with active cooperation from the PRI representatives.
