Port Blair, Sep 29: The Lt Governor, Prof Jagdish Mukhi, has condoled the death of a 10 yrs old school girl, Kumari S Usha Rani, a student of GSSS Bambooflat who died on 29th September 2016, after being electrocuted by a pole of a hoarding located within the boundary of the school which was in contact with one of the live electric lines passing by the pole.
The ill-fated girl while getting up after a fall took the support of the pole and got electrocuted as the said pole was in direct contact with a live wire. The Lt Governor has described this as a very unfortunate incident and has ordered an inquiry into the circumstances leading to electrocution. DC (SA) has been directed to conduct the inquiry.
The Lt Governor has sanctioned an amount of Rs 1,00,000/- from Lt Governor’s Relief Fund being ex-gratia relief in favour of the family of Kumari S Usha Rani.
