Port Blair, Sept 27: The Lt. Governor, A&N Islands has approved complete ban on the manufacture, storage, distribution and sale on all forms of processed/flavoured/scented chewing tobacco, whether going by the name or form of Gutka, Pan Masala, Zarda packed and unpacked/loose, tobacco leaf in any form etc; and pan masala based sugar boiled based confectionaries in the entire Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands for a period of one year from Oct 2, 2016 in the interest of public health. In this connection, the Commissioner of Food Safety, A&N Islands will address a Press Meet on Sept 28 at 4.30 pm in the conference hall of the Directorate of Health Services here.
