Diglipur, Sept 25: The Family Members of Late Biplab Das, who died on 14th September due to electrocution at Sardar Tikry, Sita Nagar, Diglipur, are upset over the meager compensation amount, released by the Administration.
As per reports, the Assistant Commissioner of Diglipur handed over a cheque of Rs 1,00,000 to the wife of the victim, Gopali Das. Although family members of Late Biplab Das earlier had refused to accept the cheque but later they accepted after they were convinced by AC Diglipur and PRI members.
As per the family members of the victim, when an amount of Rs 3 lakhs was sanctioned as compensation to Smt Bahamuni Tuti, R/o Macarthy Valley, Kadamtala, for the loss of life of her husband, Late Anand Kumar, who was killed due to an elephant attack on 2nd February 2016 and Rs 1.5 lakh as compensation to the family of 8 year old, drowned victim at Wimberlygunj by the South Andaman Administration, then why the administration has given a very small amount as compensation in this case.
Moreover according to the family the death was because of clear cut negligence of Electricity Department.
In a letter addressed to the Assistant Commissioner the victim’s wife Gopali Das has requested him to provide suitable compensation to her along with a secure job to a member of the victim’s family.
