Port Blair, Sept 22: A State Level workshop on Solar Schemes and Govt. Sponsored Schemes was conducted by NABARD, Andaman & Nicobar, Regional Office here on Wednesday at Megapode Resort. The workshop was inaugurated by Mr Hemant B Songadkar, GM/OIC, NABARD, Andaman & Nicobar Regional Office, Port Blair. The workshop was attended by Mr B. Ravinder Rao, Managing Director, A&NStCB, Mr D N Singh, Joint Director, AH & VS department; A & N Administration, Mr Anjanaiah, Dy. Director, MSME, Mr Sahu, AGM, SBI, Branch Managers of Commercial Banks and A & N State Cooperative Bank.
In his inaugural address, Mr Hemant Songadkar explained the objectives of the workshop. While explaining the benefits of Govt. Sponsored Schemes to the audience, he has requested the bankers to whole heartedly participate in all the Govt. Sponsored programmes which would ultimately lead to convergence, capital formation, employment generation and increase in their CD ratio. Mr Singh indicated that Andaman has to go in for Solar Lighting and the UT Administrations has also embarked on a plan to cover maximum solar lighting schemes by 2018. Mr Ravinder Rao had said that they are aiming for solar lighting in each and every household. Mr Sahu advised the bankers to take the benefit of the govt. sponsored schemes where subsidy is involved.
Mr N Kothandapani, Manager and Smt Shaban Banu, Asst. Manager made presentation on concept of Govt. Sponsored Schemes for which subsidy is channelized through NABARD viz. Solar pumpset and solar photovoltaic lighting scheme, Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme (DEDS), Agri Marketing Infrastructure Scheme (AMI), Agri Clinic Agri Business Centres (ACABC), National Livestock Mission (NLM) and National Project on Organic Farming (NPOF). Mr G S Vaidyanath, Assistant General Manager, NABARD, Port Blair proposed the vote of thanks.
