Port Blair, Sept 21: The Andaman & Nicobar State Cooperative Bank organised a programme on Skill Development of SHGs by distributing Tailoring Machines and Candle Making Unit. Smt. Tanvi Garg, Secretary (Education), Andaman & Nicobar Administration was the chief guest on the occasion. Mr Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Vice Chairman, A & N State Coop. Bank and other Directors, bank officials, a large gathering of SHG members and local residents of the area were present on the occasion.
Smt. Tanvi Garg, IAS, Secretary (Education) distributed Tailoring Machine to 07 beneficiaries and Candle making kit to 02 beneficiaries. In her address, Smt Garg conveyed her wishes to the beneficiaries who have availed loan from the bank for tailoring machine and candle making kit. She further appreciated the efforts of the bank in organising such training programmes and promoting the Skill Development of SHGs. She had requested the bank to develop an Application (App) exclusively for the members of SHGs through which the members shall be able to upload designs/products of SHGs online for their promotion. She has urged all the SHGs to strive and work had with dedication and sincerity for a better living and a better future. She highlighted that there are tremendous scope of work for SHGs through which the members can empower themselves and become self-independent. She further urged all the members present on the occasion to come forward and avail training benefits followed by credit facility from the bank. She has also requested the bank to remain in touch with the SHG beneficiaries and assist them in overcoming problems (if any) in their near future. At the end, she once again congratulated all the beneficiaries for availing loan for Tailoring Machine and Candle making unit.
Welcoming the gathering, Mr Ravinder Rao, Managing Director informed that as per the initiative of Govt. Of India’s scheme- Skill Development, the A & N State Coop. Bank has initiated its efforts and conducted training programme for SHG members on various sectors like Beauty Parlour, Tailoring & Fashion Designing, Chocolate Making, Phenyl making, etc. After the successful completion of the training organised by the bank, a total of 09 beneficiaries has availed loan for Tailoring Machine and Candle making kit. He further urged all the SHG members present on the occasion to come forward and avail training benefits followed by credit facility from the bank for the improvement of socio-economic conditions.
The programme ended with vote of thanks by Smt. Elizabeth Mary, Women Development Officer (WDO) of the bank.
