Port Blair, Sept 6: Dr BR Ambedkar Institute of Technology (DBRAIT) celebrated its 33rd Foundation day “Shraddha 2016” on Tuesday. The programme started with the Blood Donation camp in association with Aids Control Society, A & N Islands and Andaman Voluntary Blood Donors Forum. A total of 60 staff and students donated blood and around 50 students have registered for future donation on the occasion. Later the students participated in the self composed Hindi poem on DBRAIT and the best poem from each department was recited in the concluding programme wherein the panel of judges selected the best poem and the students were awarded the prizes. The centre of attraction was the traditional attire, wherein the final year students from both B.Tech and Diploma programme were in the traditional outfit of their state they belong and in the concluding programme, the best outfit was awarded with the prizes.
In the concluding programme, Principal Dr. Utpal Sharma appreciated the participation of the students during the blood donation and also the events like Candle light Freedom March where the students have shown the high degree of discipline. He added that 6th Sep (foundation day) will be earmarked for the Blood Donation every year by the institute and the traditional attire competition will also be conducted in other occasions too. Shri Abhijit Agarwal, representative of the Andaman Voluntary Blood Donors Forum appreciated the students and staff inspiration to donate the blood and Mrs. Zaida, Judge on the event, presented her self-composed poem on DBRAIT.
