Port Blair, September 04: The Farmer Association of Campbell Bay will be sitting on a relay hunger strike from tomorrow at Zero Point, Campbell Bay. The agitation is against the administration for not fulfilling their long pending demand of fixing up the prices of Copra again.
As per reports, the market price of Copra at mainland is about Rs 54 per Kg but it is Rs 44 per Kg in these islands thus the farmers of Campbell Bay are suffering severe loss since a long time.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, the Vice President of Bharthiya Janta Party, Mr Sanjay Singh has said that the party will strongly support the genuine demands of Farmer of the islands and will also go on a indefinite hunger strike if the administration don’t take up their matter seriously.
Mr Sanjay Singh further said that the livelihood of the farmers have been highly affected and the farmers are demanding this from several months but the administration didn’t even took up the matter because of which farmers have taken decision of Relay Hunger Strike.
