Port Blair, Aug 31: This is for the information of the Tour Operators, Hotel Owners, Agents involved in Transport business, General Public and all concerned that Section 75 of the MV Act 1988 read with Appendix(K) of the Central motor vehicle rules 1989 mandates that necessity of a License for renting motor cabs or motor cycles to persons desiring to drive, either by themselves or through drivers. Instances have been reported regarding unauthorised hiring of Motorcycles by Hotel Owners and Tour operators. Unauthorised hiring of Motorcycles is a violation of the Motor vehicle Rules and would attract Penalty as per the provision of the Motor vehicle Act & Rules. Therefore all the Tour Operators, Hotel Owners, Agents involved in Transport Business are hereby advised to refrain from such practices and not to hire motorcycles without obtaining a License under Section 75 of the MV Act.
