Port Blair, Aug 31: The Police Training School, Prothrapur organized a 03 days short course on ‘‘Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection) Act, 2015” & “Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012” under the supervision of Smt Geeta Rani Verma, Principal, PTS from 23.08.2016 to 25/08/2016 for in-service Police personnel for awareness and knowledge of correlated subject. Topics like important section of JJ Act & POCSO Act, Role of JJ Board, legal provisions related to dealing with Juvenile in conflict with law (JCL), role and function of Child Welfare Committee, legal representative, duties & responsibilities of Child Welfare Officer at Police Stations, free legal aid, guidance on examination of child victim/witness, general Lacunas/errors in investigation, provisions under IPC for protections of child have been included in the course. Shri Kamruddin (Senior APP), Shri Tulsi Lall, Special PP (POCSO Act) and well experienced faculty members form A&N Police have delivered impressive and informative lectures, which were very effective and valued by the participants.
Altogether, 37 Police personnel of different ranks from various Police Stations & units participated in this course, interacted and enriched themselves for initiating steps forward towards implementation of JJ Act, 2015 & POCSO Act, 2012.
