Port Blair, Aug 30: As a part of regular training for police personnel on Disaster Management and Disaster Preparedness, a six day training program was conducted in the conference hall of Superintendent of Police, Nicobar, recently. The training program was inaugurated on Aug 22 by the SHO Car Nicobar. Altogether 30 police personnel including officers and other ranks of different units of police department participated in the training. In view of the vulnerability of these islands, disaster management training is very important for the prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response, rehabilitation and recovery before, during and after the disaster. Such training programme provides an exposure to the understanding of disasters (meaning & types), Incident Command System (ICS), Medical First Responder (MFR) and Collapsed Structure Search and Rescue (CSSR). Theoretical as well as practical exercises of CSSSR and MFR were held during the course. The course was arranged by Disaster Management Cell of A & N Police and training was imparted by Sub Inspector Abdul Sajid of IRBn.
