Port Blair, Aug 28: During the current year-2016, till date, 39 cases of theft/burglary have been worked out by South Andaman Police in which, the stolen articles ie. gold, cash, mobiles, two wheelers, electronic items etc. have been recovered and 39 accused persons have been arrested and 13 juveniles in conflict with the law have been apprehended. Out of these worked out cases, 18 are of PS Aberdeen, 7 of P.S. Pahargaon, 4 of P.S. Chatham, 2 of PS Humfrigunj, 4 of P.S. Bambooflat, 2 of P.S. Havelock and 2 of P.S. Hut Bay. Efforts are being made to work out the remaining theft/burglary cases of respective Police Stations of South Andaman District in which valuable articles have been stolen.
The recent worked out cases include that of one person being arrested from West Bengal in an ATM Fraud case, two persons for the theft in a house at Atlanta Point, three persons for the theft of LED street light bulbs in Humfrigunj, three persons for the theft of cash Rs. 2.5 lakhs from a person who had visited GB. Pant Hospital and also the case of theft of ATM card and withdrawal of cash by a juvenile in Humfreygunj.
People have been advised to take adequate care and keep their cash, ornaments safely in the house or bank and also not to leave their two wheelers abandoned in isolated places without putting a proper lock. They should also inform to the nearby Police Station or Police Control Room, if any unknown person is found to be roaming suspiciously in the locality. All must ensure the verification of employees before engagement any person in their house and ensure safety of belongings before leaving their house for mainland. One should also be careful with any suspicious persons engaged in odd end jobs etc. who visit from house-to-house and may take advantage of loneliness of any member of the house and commit any theft or cheating. Such persons should also not be allowed to enter inside the house.
